Essay

The Bulgari Serpenti  was preceded by the Tubogas which endured years of design by drawing inspiration from gas pipelines which were constructed with a metal coil surrounded by interlocking precious metal bands. The Tubogas, in various forms, has been in existence since the 1940s. Since the 1950's until the 1970's Bulgari took this more functional design and transformed the humble coils into vividly coloured and realistic serpentine bracelet watches.

Various models of the Serpenti were produced with miniature watch movements which were manufactured by high-end watch brands such as Jaeger-LeCoultre, Audemars Piguet, Movado, and OMEGA.
