Essay
Introduced in 1943, the 'bumper' movement is a self-winding automatic movement. Unlike other variations of an automatic movement where the rotor rotates a full 360 degrees, the bumper movement moves back and forth around 120 degrees. OMEGA found this to be the most effective, due to the rotor ‘bumping’ off a pair of springs on opposite sides of the watch, although not exclusive to the manufacturer.
