The OMEGA Constellation Marine Chronometer (prototype) wristwatch was first introduced in the late 1960s and was designed specifically for marine use. It was part of the Constellation collection, which has been one of OMEGA's flagship models since 1952.

The watch features a highly accurate chronometer-certified movement, the OMEGA calibre 1511.

The watch features a highly accurate chronometer-certified movement, This is one of the first quartz wristwatches developed in Switzerland. During the seventies, the technology of integrated circuits featuring quartz with vibrating movements or not and its displays were advancing very rapidly making certain projects in development phases already obsolete. Conceived in collaboration with the Battelle institute, the Marine chronometer became in 1974 the most precise wristwatch in the world.
