Essay: Developed in 1929, the calibre 101 movement it is the world's smallest mechanical movement and was not made by Cartier but by Jaeger LeCoultre. It was based on a previous movement called the Duoplan made in 1924. Cartier worked closely with Jaeger LeCoultre to reinvent the lady's diamond dress watch, 'montre baguette' by creating the smallest movements possible and pushing the boundaries of watchmaking innovation.
