Essay

Debuting in 1953, the Patek Philippe ref. 2526 marked a significant milestone as the company's inaugural serially produced self-winding wristwatch. Esteemed by collectors, this distinguished reference stands out as one of Patek Philippe's most remarkable time-only models. Its appeal lies in the combination of a practical self-winding calibre, a timeless design, and a tastefully executed off-white enamel dial.

The calibre 12-600AT features Patek's Gyromax balance wheel (first introduced in 1951), which is an adjustable inertia balance. A Gyromax balance's adjustment screws are not, as is usually the case, on the outside of the rim – instead, they are actually recessed into the rim of the wheel.
