The sixteenth century saw the rise of portable clocks that could fit on ones pocket. These first pocket watches gave rise to the development of movements and complications that we recognise today. Our collection of fine and rare timepieces from as early as the seventeenth century highlight the seminal developments in watchmaking history including verge watches, minute repeaters and perpetual calendars.
