Romily
‘Adam & Eve’ Automaton Verge Watch
Fine and rare gold and enamel open face automaton pocket watch, movement signed Romily, Paris.
● The white enamel dial features Arabic numeral hour indices, gold hour hands and outer minute track with 0-60 scale. ● Upon the dial at 12 o’clock Adam and Eve can be seen, with the snake making his way round the dial edge. The snake’s head acts as the hand by which the seconds are read. ● About the dial are the Gardens of Eden, with a horse, stag, snake and rather amusing early depictions of a lion and bird of paradise.
